Did you know if you drive while you are sleepy, you put yourself and others in the same danger as a drunk driver would? Studies have shown that when you are drowsy, your driving can be as badly as those who are drunk. Both alcohol and sleep deprivation impair the ability to react to situations that require quick responses. When you are sleepy, opening a window or turning up the radio do not help. Between midnight and 6 am, when we are naturally the least alert, when we are driving, we can enter the first stage of sleep, our eyes can be open and we can even hear but we are actually asleep.
.
Practical Note: there is no substitute for sleep. If you are sleepy, stay out of the driver’s seat and save yours and others lives!
